Lachrimae Consort will close the Historic Settings Programme in San Vicente de la Barquera tomorrow Friday,28th August
27/08/09.- The Historic Settings Programme of the 58th Edition of the Santander International Festival concludes with the concert performed by Lachrimae Consort in the Church of Santa María de los Ángeles, in San Vicente de la Barquera, at 21.00
El Lachrimæ Consort was created in 1994 by Philippe Foulon for the recording of various films by the French and American film-makers Bertrand Tavernier and Jim McBride with ancient instruments ( La Fille de D?Artagnan, La Tabla de Flandres). The group is made up of soloist musicians who share the same sensitivity for interpreting repertoires of European music from the 16th, 17th and 18th centries .Lachrimæ Consort have an intensive performance schedule and are invited to important International festivals in Europe (Amsterdam Ancient Music Festival, Saint Cecilia, London, Magano in Italy, Festival de Camino de Santiago, Huesca, Andrés Segovia, Madrid, Conde Duque, Ambronay, Sablé, Paris, Dublin, Brussels, Moscow, St.Petersburg) and with important figures from the world of baroque such as Wieland Kuijken, James Bowman, Stephen Preston, Charles Brett, among other. Since 2001 they have developed an unedited programme of recovering love instruments such as the viole d?Orphée (which won the Heritage First Prize in France), theVivaldi all?inglese cello, love violins, lyre violas, violas all?inglese, all made with amusing chords and developing a very special ?sonorous halo?of sound. The Lachrimæ Consort?s instruments are unique in the world, with viols da gamba, sets of violins, violas , cellos, a set of violas all?inglese, a set of violins all?inglese, continuo instruments (clave, tiorba, archiviolata, baroque guitar, organ) and when possible vocal choirs or vocal soloists , woodwind instruments (cornet, flutes, oboes, chirimias and trompas) are added.
