The programme of the Historic Settings turns its spotlight on Escalante, Castañeda and Laredo
14/08/09.- Friday 14, at 21.00 in the Church of La Santa Cruz de Escalante, the duo Speculum & Mara Aranda will be performing. In the collegiate church of La Santa Cruz in Castañeda the guitars of Piñeiro Nagy and Mikroduo will play to the delight of the audience. The Symphony Orchestra of the San Petersburg Academy will be playing in Laredo at 21.00 on Saturday 15th August in the Church of Santa Maria.
Piñeiro Nagy on during his frequent European tours has recorded for radio and television in Switzerland, Bulgaria, Portugal and Spain, His concerts in the USA and the Far East have always had an overwhelming response. He has given master classes in the USA, Switzerland (Yehudi Menuhin Music Academy), Bulgaria, Hungary, China (Beijing and Macaw) and South Korea and has participated in prestigious festivals in Hungary, Greece, Poland, Slovenia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Luxemburg, Spain España, France, Italy, Turkey, the Slovak Republic and Macedonia, as well as in China, South Korea, Japan and Thailand. He has been member of the jury for the 'Fernando Sor'Internationla Guitar Competition, in Rome, and other national and international competitions.
In 1990 he became professor for the guitar at the Escuela Superior de Música, Lisbon
As Director of the International Music Courses since 1975, he created the Festival Estoril Festival the same year. Since 1983 he has been a Member of the European Festivals Association with its HQ in Ghent, with executive responsibilities between 1997 and 2005. He is President of the Associação Internacional de Música da Costa do Estoril. The Brazilian Government awarded him the Medalla Heitor Villa-Lobos Medal on the centenary of the birth of this prestigious composer.
Pedro Luis and Miguel Vieira da Silva, known musically as Mikroduo, will be performing alongside their former teacher Nagy. They created MikroDuo in 2004 still as students at the Escuela Superior, and were inspired by the Micropiezas, by Leo Brouwer, the first piece for two guitars they played. Later, they were to study on a master course with Ricardo Gallén. Their unity and artistic talent was soon appreciated in Portugal, thanks to their wide repertoire presented in frequent concerts, and most notably an outstanding performance in the 2007 Estoril Festival, as one of many highlights. In 2007, they were invited by the eminent violinist Alberto Lysy to participate in the Chamber music meetings of the para participar Menuhin Academy (Blonay / Switzerland), forming a trio with Piñeiro Nagy, playing in concert with the famous Camerata Lysy in the Victoria Hall Theatre in Geneva, and later in Blonay. In 2008 they returned to the Victoria Hall, with Piñeiro Nagy and the Camerata Lysy, once again receiving the acclaim of the audience.They ahve recorded for Portugal?s RTP Antena 2, and have performed World and national premieres of pieces for two guitars by composers such as Pedro Figueiredo, Manuel Durão, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Joaquín Turina and Radamés Gnattali. After their apppearances at the Santander International Fetsival they will go on to the International festivals of Ljubljana and Emilia Romagna.
The Conductor of the San Petersburg Academy Symphony Orchestra, Alexander Chernoushenko, was also conductor of the ?Tchelyabinsk Opera & Ballet Theatre Orchestra?. In 1988 he was invited to work with the ?Leningrad Maly Opera and Ballet Theatre Orchestra?. During this period Alexander Chernoushenko not only gained experience conducting operas and ballet but also in his own productions.
In the autumn of 1991, he re-founded the San Petersburg Chapel Academy Symphony Orchestra, since in the 1917 October Revolution the Court Orchestra had soon become part of the Philharmonic Society Orchestra, the present San Petersburg Philharmonic. Chernoushenko reorganised the orchestra taking responsibility for the hiring of personnel and conducting the first concerts. Since the official refounding on 1 November 1991, to the time of writing, Alexander Chernoushenko has been the official conductor, and under his supervision the Orchestra is currently one of the most recognised groups in Russia with successful tours of Europe and Asia. He is regularly invited to conduct orchestras and participate in International music festivals worldwide. He is professor of orchestra conducting at the San Petersburg Music Conservatory.
