Tomorrow sees the start of the cycle of the historical settings programme of the 58th edition of the FIS
31/07/09.- The first date of the Historic settings programme will take place on Saturday 1 in the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Latas, Loredo, at 21.00. The Ensemble Lucidarium will perform. This is a group that specializes in medieval and renaissance music, a lively combination of voices and instruments with freedom of execution, based solely on a solid knowledge of musical style and hisorical training. Lucidarium are proud to make 21st century audiences aware of little known repertoires, that are considered minor works, and that in reality were powerful vehicles for propaganda, and developing new musical concepts during the middle ages and renaissance period. The members of the Ensemble Lucidarium collaborate on a regular basis with educational and scientific institutions, in particular with the Centre of Ancient Music in Lyon, The Sorbonne, the Universities of Arizona, California, Maryland and Wisconsin. As well as master classes and conferences, the group has developed various projects for school children. Workshops, concerts and the music to ?The voyage of Pinocchio? directed by Sandrina Anglade and Patrick Marco .
Also in the Sanctuary of the Bien Aparecida, Sunday 2 at 20.15 the Barroque Group ?La Folia? will be performing. La Folia, founded in 1977 in Madrid with the aim to interpret with historic instruments the repertoires of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, take sits name from a popular piece of Iberian music, known in Spain as Folia, in Italy as Follia and in France as Follies d?Espagne, whose form is closely linked to the musical style of baroque. Counting on a changing number of performers depending on the chosen repertory, la Foli carries out an intensive programme of recovery and teaching of the baroque repertoire, often working on monographical themes and presenting themselves in and beyond Spain, in the most important concert halls and festivals. They have given concerts in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Austria, Germany, Holland, Turkey, the USA, Mexico, Brazil, and in numerous countries of the Middle East, Central and South America.
Also on Sunday 2 August, but this time in the Concha Espina Municipal Theatre, Torrelavega at 21.00 it will be possible to listen to the Ensamble Vocalin Chamber Choir, a choral group founded by the Maestra Alina Orraca, director in turn of the prestigious Schola Cantorum Coralina, Cuba. This project is the coming into being of the ancient aspiration of bringing together in one group, a set of experienced members from Coralina, who over time stopped working in this group and have continued to develop their musical career in Spain. Vocalina is therefore the European extension of a choral project that its director has been developing for many years in Cuba, and which has led it to having the international recognition it now enjoys.
In the church of San Pedro de Celis at 20.00 Cabra Casay and Idan Raichel will perform .These members of the Israeli Combo The Idan Raichel Project, along with the percussionist and habitual collaborator of the group Gilad Shmueli, join their talents on stage in a show that strips itself to the bare essentials to offer the essence of sounds from the Horn of Africa and the East in a fusion that has received incredible reviews in the most important international publications.
