The 39th Summer Cycle of Choral and Organ music begins today
23/07/09.- Organist Javier Gastón will today Thursday 23 July open the 39th Summer Cycle of Choral and Organ Music in the Sanctuary of la Bien Aparecida. He will also be giving more recitals on 30 July, 6, 13 and 20 August.All these performnces wil be at 19.15 in the Sanctuary of la Bien Aparecida and entrance will be free.
He will play works by Johann Pachelbel, Johann Sebastian Bach, John Travers, Stanley, Leon Boëlmann, J. J. Castillo, Francisco Correa de Arauxo, Georg Friedrich Handel, José Lidón, Alberto Ginastera, Johann Gottfried Walther, Juan Bautista de Cabanilles, Joaquín Oxinagas and Félix Mendelssohn- Bartholdy to name but a few.
Gastón started his music studies in Cantabria, continued them in Salamanca and Bilbao (piano) and San Sebastián and Madrid (organ) receiving many awards.
He has formed choral groups and is currently in charge of the organ at Verdalonga de San Salvador, Leganes from where he has created a cycle of educational concerts, especially in the realm of ancient spanish organ music, which has been running for twelve years and has had over 150 events.
